Commission’s new publication on Youth Unemployment
The Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission just released a new catalogue on Youth Unemploymentfrom its series of “Social Agenda” publications. The study notably focuses on Youth Guarantee schemes and other hot youth topics ahead of the new budgetary period and European elections. Among other interesting elements, the publication highlights the European Social Fund as an important lever to tackle youth unemployment as 20% of ESF budget will have to be earmarked for social inclusion. The Youth Employment Initiative will be notably co-financed by the ESF and will seek to improve the situation in the European regions that are the most affected (unemployment rate above 25%).
