Commission study on regional and local development and good governance
The European Commission’s 6th Report on Economic, Social and Territorial Cohesion analyses the state of cohesion of the Union and highlights the challenges faced by national, regional and local authorities in overcoming the impact of the financial and economic crisis. In particular it outlines how Cohesion Policy can be a lever to support recovery. The report notably makes a state of play of key education and training indicators (early-school leaving, participation in lifelong learning…). Entitled “Promoting development and good governance in EU regions and cities”, the study also provides recommendations for an ever greater impact of cohesion policy in 2014-2020, such as the genuine implementation of the European Code of Conduct on Partnership enabling all relevant stakeholders to participate in developing and monitoring programmes.
