A European Platform for non-professional Youth Work?
CEMEA (Training Centres for the promotion of new education, France) together with other European partners and supported by the International Federation of CEMEA (FICEMEA), the European Association for Leisure Time Institutions of Children and Youth (EAICY) and SOLIDAR, all members of EUCIS-LLL, issued a publication on the possibility to create a Platform for non-professional youth work. This work is not sufficiently recognised, which makes the mobility of youth workers difficult. The idea was developed through two Grundtvig projects from 2007 on. The platform was tested within the different partner organisations and a common base for youth workers pedagogical practice was created. To reach institutional recognition of youth work across Europe, the partners aim, among other goals, to ask the Commission to create a directive on recognition of non-professional youth workers and create a European passport for them.
