TALIS results push European Commission to act for teachers
The new Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) focusing on teachers reveals that more than 80% of teachers in the EU feel undervalued and a third of the interviewed teachers declared that they work in schools with a shortage of qualified teachers. The Commission decided to take action and recommended for instance to the Member States to implement long-term strategies to better train teachers. It is interesting also to compare those results with those of PISA as students seem to perform better where teachers are happier.
