Parliament gets its hands on Opening Up Education
The CULT Committee has decided to produce an own-initiative report on “New technologies and open educational resources” in response to the 2013 Commission’s Communication on Opening Up Education. The Committee held its first discussion on the topic on 5 November and the Rapporteur, MEP Ivan Cătălin Sorin (S&D, RO), expressed his high interest in assessing how new technologies can improve our educational systems so that they are genuinely tailored for the needs of our knowledge-based economies and for employers’ demands. The CULT draft report will be presented in December and voted in February. EUCIS-LLL is currently preparing a position on Opening Up Education to feed in institutional debates.
