Interview with Commissioner Thijssen
Social Agenda n°39 features an interview with the new European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour mobility, Marianne Thyssen. She presents her approach to employment, social affairs, skills and labour mobility. She states that her priorities are job creation and a fairer, more social Europe, adding that she believes in the balance between economic growth and social advancement. According to her, economic growth can not last if people do not benefit from it. Other articles explain how her portfolio fits into the general philosophy and the concrete workings of the new college of European Commissioners and its president, Jean-Claude Juncker. EUCIS-LLL welcomes Thyssen’s statements, having advocated for a long time for building a more social and cohesive Europe and to reflect this in the revision of ET2020 and, more broadly, the Europe 2020 strategy.
