Inclusive education: still a long way to go, Commission says

Institutional news -

The European Commission released a report on policies and practices in education, training and employment for students with disabilities and special educational needs in the EU. The study shows that Member States commitment did not prevent special educational needs learners to be segregated in dedicated institutions, obtain too few qualifications and have more chances to get unemployed or obtain decent salary. Inclusion will be the European countries’ challenge in the next decade but the economic crisis and the retrenchment of the welfare state will not facilitate the task to reverse the trend.
