Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs moving forward at the Davos World Economic Forum
On 24 January Commission President José Manuel Barroso and Vice-President Neelie Kroes met corporate leaders to broaden the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs. The Coalition is an initiative launched in March 2013 in the framework of the Digital Agenda for Europe, gathering various stakeholders making pledges to increase digital skills on the European labour market, better integrate them in the European Qualifications Framework, adapt VET and higher education curricula, etc (members only: see also EUCIS-LLL infonote on the Digital Agenda 2013/2014). CEOs were invited to endorse the Davos Declaration on the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs that aims to create 100 000 more traineeships by 2015, equip students with basic ICT skills and promote the ICT sector attractiveness.
