European Ombudsman debating Lobbying Transparency // 11 May 2015

Institutional news -

Lobbying obviously plays an important role in functioning democracies, as shows its exponential increase in Brussels, starting to resemble Washington D.C. High ethical standards and pro-active transparency about lobbying are, however, key for citizens’ trust in EU decision-making. In light of her investigations (namely on “revolving doors”) and in the framework of her strategic work on ethical issues and transparency in lobbying activities, and the new Commission’s Transparency Register, the Ombudsman would like to facilitate a debate about what has been achieved and what further measures could be taken to improve lobbying transparency in Brussels. Registrations and practical info are to be found on EU Ombusdman website.
