CULT Committee discusses Common Framework for Languages

Institutional news -

On 12 February was presented and discussed in the European Parliament’s CULT Committee a Parliament study on “The implementation of the Common Framework for Languages in European Education Systems”. The study focuses on curriculum development, examination, teaching material and training related to foreign language learning in the compulsory education system in Member States. Among key findings, the study reveals that all countries examined relate their modern foreign language learning programmes and policies to the CEFR but the main obstacle to its full implementation seems to be the lack of empirical evidence on the link between the CEFR and learning outcomes, objectives of curricula, examination or other policy documents influencing the education system.
