CULT Committee at work: Rethinking Education and history education
EUCIS-LLL congratulates MEP K. Nevedalova (S&D) and her team after the adoption in the last CULT Committee of 17 September of her report on “Rethinking Education” (see draft report and amendments) (adoption in plenary planed in October). Mrs Nevedalova (see interview) had carefully listened to stakeholders including EUCIS-LLL (see the Platform and its members’ position on the text and notably the recent paper by the DARE network, as well as related events) and we trust the final report to echo civil society concerns. MEPs also had a heated discussion on MEP M.H. Migalski (ECR)’s draft report on historical memory in culture and education in the EU; MEPs recommended to adopt a more neutral tone and enhance peace and mutual understanding notably via history education (see also the EP’s House of European History project).
