Lifelong Learning Interest Group Meeting: citizenship at the heart

EUCIS-LLL news, Institutional news, Members & partners news -

In her opening speech, MEP Sirpa Pietikainen (EPP, FI), Chair of the Interest Group, underlined that “a civilised society functions on three equally important pillars: democracy, education, economic stability and welfare.” In light of the challenges we face today, more than ever, education must stimulate critical thinking, as stressed by MEP Julie Ward (S&D, UK) and Vice-Chair of the group. This idea, at the heart of the Paris Declaration and the Education and Training priorities, needs joint efforts to become a reality: civil society has been very active and the practice is out there, we now need to join forces. The Interest Group is also happy to announce its group is growing and acquiring further support from MEPs. Read the Statement here.
