“Learning in context” and other programmes for youth employment
Programmes such as “Learning in context”, initiated by Employable Arbeidsmarktconsultancy (The Netherlands), highlight the role of the employer enables to share several of those “working/learning” programmes of employers that have been set up for the unemployed, as part of an active policy of socially responsible entrepreneurship. As a matter of fact, the situation for young people out of school in the Netherlands is catastrophic and such programmes like the “Learning in context” are intensive approaches with a practice and theory component in combination with relevant work experience. The innovation lies also in the fact that those projects have been set up for low educated youngsters and those who have dropped out school, as well as other vulnerable groups like disabled, minority or female learners.
